L’objectif de ce colloque est d’explorer la manière dont l’incertitude et la contingence sont abordées en médecine, de l’Antiquité à nos jours. Alors que la pandémie de la COVID-19 semble avoir mis au devant de la scène un grand nombre d’incertitudes dans les sciences et les pratiques biomédicales, il nous paraît utile d’explorer les divers visages de l’incertitude sur le temps long de l’histoire de la médecine.
Argument
Nous proposons d’explorer trois grandes dimensions de cette dernière :
- ontologique (ou indétermination), c’est à dire la contingence et la variabilité des maladies elles-mêmes
- épistémique, dans les savoirs produits en recherche clinique et dans les méthodes adoptées (raisonnement clinique, évaluation thérapeutique, etc.)
- pratique : enjeux de la décision médicale et du passage du général au singulier au niveau individuel comme populationnel
